چکیده

Duration Calculus, a real-time interval logic, has been embedded in the Z specification language to provide a notation f o r real-time systems that combines the modularisation and abstraction facilities of Z with a logic suitable for reasoning about real-time properties [4 , 21. In this article the notation is presented through a top-level specification of requirements for a simple Air Traffic Monitoring system, and reasoning is illustrated by a refinement towards a design.

Modular Abstractions for Verifying Real-Time Distributed Systems

In this work we present a verification methodology for real-time distributed systems, based on their modular decomposition into processes. Given a distributed system, each of its components is reduced by abstracting away from details that are irrelevant for the required specification. The abstract components are then composed to form an abstract system to which a model checking procedure is app...

Compositional Proofs for Real-time Modular Systems

One common problem in applying formal methods to the analysis of realistic industrial-size systems is that these methods often do not scale well. In order to overcome such difficulty, formal languages and tools supporting modularization and compositionality must be realized and used. Under this respect, this thesis addresses the problem of designing techniques and tools to support the formal sp...

A Synchronous Semantics of Higher-Order Processes for Modeling Reconfigurable Reactive Systems

Synchronous languages are well suited for the design of dependable real-time systems: they enable a very high-level specification and an extremely modular implementation of complex systems by structurally decomposing them into elementary synchronous processes. To maximize the support for the generic implementation and the dynamic reconfigurability of reactive systems, we introduce a semantics o...

An Improved Modular Modeling for Analysis of Closed-Cycle Absorption Cooling Systems

A detailed modular modeling of an absorbent cooling system is presented in this paper. The model including the key components is described in terms of design parameters, inputs, control variables, and outputs. The model is used to simulate the operating conditions for estimating the behavior of individual components and system performance, and to conduct a sensitivity analysis based on the give...

Application of Real-Time DEVS to Analysis of Safety-Critical Embedded Control Systems: Railroad Crossing Control Example

This article presents an application of the Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) framework to the design and safety analysis of a real-time embedded control system, a railroad crossing control system. The authors employ an extension of the DEVS formalism, real-time DEVS (RT-DEVS), which has a sound semantics for the specification of real-time systems in a hierarchical modular fashion. The ...
